Ontario Reign Release 2019-20 Schedule

Reign to begin season on Friday, October 4 at home against San Jose – Reign to face seven opponents this season – Preseason schedule also announced

 

ONTARIO, CA – The Ontario Reign, proud American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have announced their full regular-season schedule for the 2019-20 season, their fifth as a member of the AHL.

For the first time in AHL franchise history, the Reign will begin the regular season on home ice, as they host the San Jose Barracuda on Friday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m., followed by their first road tilt of the season on Saturday, October 5 in Bakersfield. Ontario will also conclude its campaign on home ice against San Jose, on Saturday, April 11 at 6:00 p.m.

All Wednesday and Friday evening home games this season will begin at 7:00 p.m., while all Saturday home games start at 6:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday home games will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Highlights of the 2019-20 Reign regular-season schedule –

  • 30 of the Reign’s 34 home games occur on either a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday
  • The Reign will host 13 Friday games, 11 Saturday games and four Sunday games, all taking place at Toyota Arena in Ontario
  • The Reign are also home on Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 20. Additionally, the Reign are home for two games around Thanksgiving (Wednesday, 11/27 and Friday, 11/29) and one game around Christmas (Friday, 12/27)
  • Ontario will also host four additional Wednesday night games on December 11, February 12, March 18 and April 8
  • The busiest month at Toyota Arena will be February, with the Reign home a season-high seven times during that month. Ontario also has six home games in December.
  • The busiest month for the Reign overall will be November, with five contests at home and eight away for a total of 13 games. Ontario will also play 12 games in December, with six apiece home and away
  • The Reign have a pair of five-game homestands, the first running from December 6 through December 15 and the second from March 14 through March 27.
  • The longest road trips of the season are also five games, occurring twice – December 28 through January 8 and January 24 through February 7, with the latter sandwiched around the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Ontario International Airport.

Ontario will also host the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Ontario International Airport. The 2020 AHL All-Star Skills Competition will be held on Sunday, January 26 with the 2020 AHL All-Star Challenge held on Monday, January 27. Both events will take place at Toyota Arena. Additionally, the Reign have announced their 2019 preseason schedule. Ontario will take on the San Diego Gulls in a home-and-home set. City of Ontario Announces “Ontario Sports Empire” as Name for Largest Multi-Use Sports Complex on West Coast

The City of Ontario, The Sports Facilities Companies and Greater Ontario CVB scheduled to open 190-acre facility in fall 2026

The City of Ontario, The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), and the Greater Ontario Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) announced the official name of their groundbreaking multi-use sports complex: The Ontario Sports Empire. Set to open in fall 2026, the complex is positioned to become the premier venue for major regional and national tournaments, elevating Ontario as a key sports destination in the United States.

With 190 acres of top-tier athletic facilities, including 20 long fields, 14 youth diamond fields, eight full-size diamonds, four football/rugby fields and two championship baseball fields, the Ontario Sports Empire will be the largest sports complex of its kind west of the Rocky Mountains.

“The Ontario Sports Empire will bring new jobs, boost tourism, and create lasting opportunities for our local businesses,” said Paul Leon, Mayor of Ontario. “This project represents a key part of Ontario’s future as a regional hub for commerce, recreation, and culture.”
