High Desert Survey Extended To September 15th

The deadline to submit responses to the High Desert Survey has been extended to September 15th, according to Joseph W. Brady, CCIM, SIOR, initiator of the survey and one of its key sponsors. The extension is intended to allow a key regional public service entity, with nearly 10,000 clients, to include notification of the survey in its current billing cycle and to provide residents who have not yet completed it more time to do so.

The High Desert Survey seeks to identify the challenges and issues affecting the region that rank among the highest priorities of its residents. “Based upon the results of the survey residents of the area and their governmental representatives will be better equipped to address these issues with targeted strategies aimed at problem resolution”, stated Mr. Brady. By extending the deadline to September 15, survey organizers hope to increase the number of respondents well into the 13,000-15,000 range.

To date, over 10,300 residents have responded to the survey, which has received strong support from local business entities, the Hispanic/Latino Community Coalition and numerous elected officials representing various High Desert constituencies. The High Desert Survey has been endorsed by US Representative Paul Cook, State Senator Scott Wilk (21st District),California Assemblyman Jay Obernolte and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Third District Representative Dawn Rowe.

This effort will help leaders chart a path forward for our community, and it will inform important decisions in the future. • Assemblyman Obernolte also offered his support, stating that “The High Desert Survey is an innovative effort that will give leaders in our community insight into issues we face and potential solutions to those issues. That is why I support the High Desert Survey and encourage everyone to participate.”

• “The High Desert Survey is a great opportunity for residents, business owners, and government officials to weigh in on what they see as challenges and opportunities for the High Desert Region”, according to Supervisor Rowe, who went on to say that “The responses generated from the survey will be used as a tool to guide community leaders who are interested in improving the lives of the residents and businesses they serve.”

“We decided to extend the survey because we have identified additional organizations and groups within the First District that initially had some concerns or confusion regarding the survey. To ensure as broadly representative a sample as possible we have reached out to the Hispanic, African-American and Korean communities and want to be sure that everyone has ample time to learn of and complete the survey,” stated Brady. He added that “There have also been publications that have added a free ad that has just arrived at local post office and we wanted to ensure those companies, such as Love Media, which covers Helendale and Silver Lakes, as well as The Breeze, which covers Spring Valley Lake, are able to help us get additional people to respond”.
