Michael Krouse named to CalTravel PAC Trustee Board

Ontario, California – (January 30, 2019) The Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau is pleased to announced that President & CEO, Michael Krouse, has been elected to serve on the Cal Travel PAC Trustee Board.  As the official destination marketing organization and tourism authority for the cities of Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga, the Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau team of experts understands the economic impact the travel industry has on the local economy and focuses on attracting visitors to generate overnight hotel stays.

Since 1981, CalTravel has protected and enhanced the interests of the California travel and tourism industry through advocacy, collaboration, and education. Travel and tourism is one of the most significant economic drivers in the state – responsible for hundreds of billions of dollars in economic activity, millions of jobs and billions in tax revenues.

Visitors to California spent $132.4 billion in 2017, spending that supported over one million jobs. California travelers generated $10.9 billion in state and local taxes in 2017 to support vital public services including police, fire protection, health and homeless services, park maintenance, education and road repair. Cal Travel membership is made up of cities, destinations, resorts, amusement parks, sports venues, transportation companies, industry associations, ad agencies, media companies, and other organizations for whom travel and tourism is important.  Membership dues, sponsorship, and event revenue fund CalTravel’s lobbying efforts, education, member communications, outreach, and participation on the board of U.S. Travel. The CalTravel PAC gives CalTravel the ability to educate policy makers on the importance of travel and tourism to the state. California Travel Association is a 501(c)6 nonprofit mutual benefit corporation.

CalTravel protects and enhances the interests and investments of the California travel and tourism industry through advocacy, collaboration, and education.

“I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Cal Travel” said Michael Krouse, President & CEO of Greater Ontario Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “As the official destination marketing organization, we keep our finger on the pulse of tourism advocacy in addition to continually keeping Greater Ontario top of mind amongst our peers and state representatives.”  Quarterly stakeholder update meetings will allow Mr. Krouse to share information from Cal Travel with the Greater Ontario hospitality and tourism destinations.
