LifeStream’s Third Annual 5K Life Run/Walk presented by OneLegacy set for Sunday, Sept. 29 at Cal State San Bernardino
Activities take place near the athletic fields at the east end of campus; participants should park in Lot G.
Pre-registration may be completed through Wednesday, Sept. 25 at LStream.org. Race-day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. Registration is $35 for adults (ages 18 and over); $20 for ages 13-17 and $15 for ages 6-12. Each registered participant receives a commemorative event T-shirt; all who complete the course receive a finishers’ medal.
Runners will be sent on their way at 8 a.m.; walkers shortly thereafter. First-, second-and third-place medals will be awarded to the overall fastest male and female runners. In addition, a winners’ medal for top male runner and top female runner will be presented in each of six age classifications: ages17 and under; 18-29 years; 30-39 years; 40-49 years; 50-59 years; and 60 years and above.
Life Run/Walk also includes food, entertainment, educational exhibits, Kids’ Zone and a LifeStream blood drive from 8 a.m. to noon. The drive will be conducted on LifeStream’s newest mobile collection unit, the purchase of which was assisted by OneLegacy and the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Both organizationswill have onsite representation to help “introduce” the new eco-friendly, donor-friendly mobile coach.
“One in four of us will need a blood transfusion in our lifetimes,” said Catherine Grinnan, LifeStream’s community relations manager. “By joining Life Run/Walk, you can honor a loved one who has received blood, or ‘pay it forward’ should youever need this priceless gift.
“And our continuing partnership with OneLegacy, the region’s leading organ transplant procurement organization, meshes with LifeStream’s mission. OneLegacy donors ‘donate life’ and no transplant can be successful without significant amounts of blood being available to surgical teams.”
LifeStream is a local, nonprofit community blood bank that provides blood products and services to more than 80 Southern California hospitals.
