Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. – August 21, 2019 – Universal Technical Institute (UTI) celebrated the launch of the Peterbilt Technician Institute (PTI) Manufacturer-Specified Advanced Training Program at the Rancho Cucamonga campus with a ceremony that was attended by elected officials, future PTI students and community members.

The PTI program offers students advanced training with Peterbilt’s specific products and technologies and the opportunity to earn 12 Peterbilt certifications to prepare for careers in the growing and in-demand diesel industry.

“Today, we welcome the PTI program to our campus, a first-time and one-of-a-kind training opportunity offered in Southern California,” said Migdalia Vasquez-Valle, UTI-Rancho Cucamonga campus president. “With our campus in the logistics and transportation hub of the Inland Empire, this course will keep trucks moving in our region and beyond, as well as create promising career opportunities for our students.”

Congressman Paul Cook representing California’s 8thCongressional District, San Bernardino County Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford, and City of Rancho Cucamonga Mayor Dennis Michael were among the special guest speakers to congratulate the inaugural PTI class and speak about how this new program will benefit the regional economy.

“The Inland Empire continues to be a hub for the diesel industry and Peterbilt is dedicated to preparing the next generation of diesel technicians,” said Brian Brooks, Peterbilt PTI director. “This partnership with UTI lets us recruit the best talent for jobs at Peterbilt’s more than 350 Peterbilt service locations across North America.”

Rancho Cucamonga is the fourth UTI campus to offer the PTI program, which is already available at the Universal Technical Institute campuses in Illinois, Pennsylvania and Texas.
