High Desert (Mojave River Valley) Survey Progress

News Release — August 20, 2019, Victorville, CA — The High Desert Survey has reached its midpoint; while there is still ample time for residents of the High Desert to respond to the survey at www.highdesertsurvey.com, at this juncture significant progress has already been made toward providing area residents and decision-makers with a clearer picture of the perceptions of those who reside here on the High Desert.

Survey proponents have given presentations at the Apple Valley Town Council as well as the City Councils of Barstow, Hesperia and Adelanto, Spring Valley Lake Homeowners Association, Helendale Community Services District and the High Desert Association of Realtors Executive Board. The High Desert Survey has been endorsed by US Representative Paul Cook, State Senator Scott Wilk (21st District), California Assemblyman Jay Obernolte and San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors Third District Representative Dawn Rowe.

  • Congressman Cook states that “I want to commend those who put together the High Desert Survey. This effort will help leaders chart a path forward for our community, and it will inform
important decisions in the future. Your voice counts, and I strongly encourage everyone to take the survey to make sure your voice is heard.”
  • “This survey is a unique opportunity to weigh in on where you think the High Desert is today and the direction it should go in the future. Since a survey is only as accurate as the number of
people who participate, I strongly encourage all High Desert residents to take advantage of this opportunity and be part of crafting the future of the region. Don’t waste a minute-take that
survey today.”, stated Senator Wilk in offering his endorsement of the High Desert Survey.
  • Assemblyman Obernolte also offered his support, stating that “The High Desert Survey is an innovative effort that will give leaders in our community insight into issues we face and potential solutions to those issues. That is why I support the High Desert Survey and encourage everyone to participate.”
  • “The High Desert Survey is a great opportunity for residents, business owners, and government officials to weigh in on what they see as challenges and opportunities for the High Desert Region”, according to Supervisor Rowe, who went on to say that “The responses generated from the survey will be used as a tool to guide community leaders who are interested in improving the lives of the residents and businesses they serve.”

In addition to being supported and endorsed by elected officials, the High Desert Survey has benefitted from generous donations of a full-size rotating billboard on I-15 by Lamar Advertising, numerous public service announcements provided by El Dorado Broadcasting, a number of supportive articles and columns in the Victorville Daily Press, as well as support and publicity provided by the Victor Valley News Group.

As a combined result of this outpouring of public support survey responses from nearly 6,749± residents (as of August 16, 2019) and close to 150 businesses have already been received, an extraordinary response rate for a public survey of this nature. With less than two weeks to go in the data gathering process the High Desert Survey is on track to provide our residents and community decision makers with the largest sample of resident opinions that has ever been generated in our region.

It is with enormous appreciation and gratitude that the organizers and supporters of the High Desert Survey report these encouraging results and encourage those who have not yet done so to visit highdesertsurvey.com and provide their own input in this important public information gathering process.
