Fontana, Calif.– Mayor Acquanetta Warren is one of 12 mayors invited to attend the Mayors Leadership Institute on Smart Cities (ISC) from Wednesday, May 1 to Friday, May 3, 2019 in New York. The Institute is led by New York University’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Policy in partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM). The ISC was established to provide mayors with technology tools to establish a smart city model approach to address issues in their communities.

“I am honored to be invited to participate in the ISC to ensure Fontana is at the forefront of incorporating technology to solve future citywide challenges,” shares Mayor Warren.

Participating mayors will discuss new technology tools and how to address real-world initiatives. At the end of the ISC, mayors will create a blueprint that can be implemented into the following smart city issues:

  • Financing plans
  • Operations
  • Public transit
  • Partnership strategy
  • Resident engagement
  • Digital inclusion

The Mayors Leadership Institute on Smart Cities is the leading forum for mayors to immerse themselves in smart cities work.

About the Institute:

The Institute is a collaboration of the New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM). It will be an expert-facilitated and peer-driven learning environment where mayors will leave with a clear path forward for a major initiative, a framework for approaching smart city opportunities citywide, and equally important, a set of guiding principles to improve their relationship with vendors and future tech partners.

USCM is uniquely situated to convene mayors as it is widely known as the organization that routinely brings city leaders together to identify and problem-solve the nation’s greatest challenges. New York University is recognized as a leader in the smart cities field having established an entire academic program dedicated to urban analytics, hosting the country’s most widely used secure data facility and developing customized executive education for public officials around the country.
