Riverside, CA (December 6, 2019) – While Sacramento and an increasing number of California cities update their occupancy codes to encourage backyard tiny homes, start-up tiny homebuilder Back Porch Homes (BPH) has been laying the foundation for an enterprise that will help solve the affordable housing crisis. BPH partnered with crowdfunding website Republic to help raise funds needed to develop the start-up’s manufacturing and marketing capabilities.

“We launched the campaign October 22 on the heels of ourshowroom grand opening,”explained Stephen McKee, Back Porch Homes co-founder. “Since that time and with the help of our Republic investors, we have achieved all of our goals for the campaign including:

  1. Raise a minimum of $100,000 (we raised $159,438)
  2. Raise awareness and support for the BPH mission (we engaged 829 investors and more than 180 public endorsements)
  3. Improve our business concept and pitch (which we did by engaging in more than 100 online question and answer conversations andone live Q&A event)

“We’re excited to have Back Porch Homes as our first “Republic Cities” company to not only launch but surpass their funding goal,” said Shrina Kurani, Republic’s Vice President of Business. “Together, we can continue to live the vision of innovation for everyone, where you can invest in the ideas you believe in and build the future you want—and with Back Porch Homes, hopefully one with more access to affordable housing.”
